It’s been an amazing journey of 2 years
Three years ago, Miami-Dade District 8 Commissioner Daniella Levine Cava and Neighbors and Neighbors Association (NANA) Director, Leroy Jones, joined forces to create a one-of-a-kind small business and nonprofit incubator to support South Dade’s small business owners and entrepreneurs.
I had the great good fortune of being tasked with running it and on April 7th of 2017 we had a truly unforgettable grand opening celebration.
Now, fast forward two years and our first cohort of entrepreneurs are all thriving and making a positive impact in our community. They are ready to graduate from our program and continue working to take their businesses, higher. Armed with the knowledge, experience and skills they acquired through Accelerate South Dade's program, they will no doubt continue to meet with great success.
So today, above all, I want to thank each and every one of them—Joann, Claudia, Farrah, Virginia, Michael, Tamika, Jessica, David, Wendy, Kathleen, Robert and Cemone— for their courage, commitment to service, tenacity and hard work.
Thank you all for helping us build something remarkable in South Dade—a growing community of successful entrepreneurs committed to strengthening our community.
Our Cohort I companies were:
- Grandstand by Joann Chan

Thank you for being such incredible entrepreneurs.
Although this is the end of a chapter, it is not the end of our story.
Let’s continue to collaborate to build a strong entrepreneurial community in South Dade!
